Five middle grade fiction releases fans of mythology and magic shouldn’t miss

Young readers who love mythology and magic books are in for a treat this Spring. New releases of middle grade books include a growing range of fiction based on ancient myths. Seeing myths from different cultures brought to life will be exciting for fans of Percy Jackson and other mythology adventures. There are also great books for kids who enjoy magical adventures in fantastical worlds.

Many action and adventure books for children have a boy as a lead character. The lead character is often a great role model for young readers. These books can be enjoyed by both girls and boys, and more balance is needed in gender representation. It is encouraging to see that more of the new books coming out feature a girl as the main character.

So this review is about the Alex Rider book series  by Anthony Horowitz. There are eleven books in the series so far. This review will cover the first book.

Featured Children’s Book of the Month for January 2018 – The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell

This month’s featured children’s book recommendation is a treat from the author of the How to Train Your Dragon book series. It was received well by critics on its release in 2017. My personal children’s book tester who loves magic books, certainly enjoyed the book and gave it a huge thumbs up.
